Is a Democrat or a Republican Better For the Stock Market?

Which is better for the stock market, a Democratic President or a Republican President?

Neither.

Both.

Depending on your goals, objectives and your portfolio you would have done well as an investor if you had stayed fully invested in the stock market during either political party’s term in office.

Below is a graph showing the history of the stock market. The red line represents if you only invested in the market when a Republican President was in office. The blue line is for a Democratic President.

The black line is staying fully invested regardless of who holds the White House.

It is not unusual for there to be market volatility before an election. The stock market doesn’t like uncertainty.

Add a pandemic to an election year and you have more uncertainty.

Stay buckled up!

Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
